For many women, the biggest fear is that once you decide to try and get pregnant, you won’t be able to. Or that it will be exceedingly difficult to do so, and you might have to resort to invasive and expensive procedures to try and increase your odds of successful conception.
That’s a lot to worry about!
And of course, you know that stress makes it more difficult to get pregnant, so you find yourself trying really really hard not to feel stressed.
Which doesn’t work and make the whole endeavor seem ridiculously frustrating and overwhelming. Does this sound familiar?
Maybe you've been trying for 3 months to a year without a positive test.
Maybe you're the ultimate planner and looking to get a head start on what you can do now to start preparing.
Maybe you’re going through fertility treatments and counting down the days until your next appointment.
Maybe you've experienced the gut wrenching pain of miscarriage without any answers as to why your pregnancy isn't sticking.
Maybe you've already had your first or second baby and are suddenly confused as to why it's challenging this time around.
Wherever you are on your fertility journey, I want to strongly encourage you to start or continue forming a healthy, trustworthy relationship with your health and your body.
I encourage you to trust your body and trust in the process you are going through right now, no matter what it is.
With the rock solid proof that the body knows exactly what it’s doing (it knows to keep your heart beating, how to take its next breath, how to maintain a 98.6 degree F temp, etc) we often still let the mind trump the body and try to force and beat it into submission, instead of tuning inward, quieting the mind and reading the clear signs and symptoms it gives us about what it needs.
By marvelling at our journey that always starts anew with every single sunrise, we have the opportunity to let go of our past, cling a little less to our future and focus on directly what serves us in this very present moment.
Carving out a few minutes every day for some undisturbed gratitude, greatly improves the emotional quality of your day, improving the overall quality of your health and hormones.
Since my goal and passion is to help you conceive, I am sharing my 10-minute guided gratitude meditation that I use with my clients in my Holistic Pregnancy Prep program. Here is some feedback I’ve received, which I hope inspires you to find some time to fill up your gratitude cup.
“I never realized how much my mood could shift from taking 10-minutes to sit and focus on gratitude.” ~ Steph, Trying to Conceive
“My life is so busy with my 2-year old that I never thought I’d have time for myself. Now I always find at least 5 minutes in the first half of my day to sit in stillness and focus on all the things I’m grateful for in my life, even if it means I’m hiding in the bathroom, sitting on the floor.” ~ Danielle, Mother of 1
“Some days I’m so anxious and stressed about my fertility treatments, but I do my best to hold myself accountable to at least 5-10 minutes of a daily gratitude meditation. I feel the small shift, and know that I’m serving myself and that is enough for me.” ~ Sharon, Trying to Conceive
